PICK'EM AT NAKATOMI

2026 NFL pick'em value matrix · 32 teams x 18 weeks · built Sep 8, 2026
Welcome to the party, pal.
Model recalc (Sep 16): Week 1 is in the books - every Week 2-18 cell re-derived off current ESPN FPI (San Francisco +5.4 is the new #1; the Rams slid to #6 after Melbourne). FPI swung hard on one week of games, so the model is ahead of the market in spots - ARI over SEA, JAX over DEN, NYG over LAR are big model-vs-market gaps. That is conviction from one game of data, not certainty.
Friday rulings (Sep 18): Cooper Rush starts for Atlanta (Penix out) - ATL cut to 45.6% vs Carolina and back on the board with an edge row. Carson Wentz starts for Minnesota (Kyler Murray out) - MIN cut to 24.5% at Chicago; the market has not moved on that news yet, which is why the Bears show a fat edge. Aaron Donald debuts Monday for the Rams - Garrett shading softened to -0.5 for Weeks 2-5. Nico Collins (HOU) out Sunday: one week, no model change, watching the line.
Saturday moves (Sep 19): Lines - DEN now -3 (from -2.5), TB -7.5 (from -8.5), KC -6 (from -6.5). The KC move puts the Chiefs back on the strip; Pittsburgh drops off. Zay Flowers (BAL) and Michael Pittman Jr. (PIT) are out Sunday, Puka Nacua (hip) is questionable for Monday - all single-week, no model change. Nico Collins may miss two games; if he sits Week 3, Houston gets shaded at Wednesday's recalc. Burrow expected to play vs Houston.
Sunday check (Sep 20): Overnight lines: TB back to -8.5, DEN back to -2.5, HOU out to -3. Burrow (CIN) and Wentz (MIN) start as expected; McConkey (LAC) intends to play; Bowers (LV) sits one more, back Week 3. Penix could start Thursday vs Green Bay. Nacua is a pre-game decision Monday night. Keenan Allen (IND) faces a 3+ game suspension but plays tonight while the case proceeds.
Sunday night (Sep 20): Jayden Daniels (WSH) dislocated the same left elbow that cost him most of last season's second half - expected to miss time, more tests Monday. Washington shaded -3 for Weeks 3-6 as a first estimate; the real timeline lands at Wednesday's recalc. Nacua (LAR) is a game-time decision trending the wrong way for Monday - if he sits, the Rams' shade deepens and the Giants edge above grows. Rough Sunday for the model: the ARI, JAX and CHI value plays all lost, while the leverage badges hit on MIN, NO, CLE, CIN and LV. KC's play is live on the night game.
MNF inactives (Sep 21): Puka Nacua (hip) is OUT vs the Giants and the line dropped to LAR -6.5 - Rams shade deepened a full point for tonight. Whittington also out. Caleb Williams (CHI) had his hamstring MRI today - if he misses Week 3, Chicago gets shaded then. Njoku (CLE) heads to IR, Goedert (PHI) out a few weeks - noted, below the model bar.
Monday night (Sep 21): Caleb Williams (CHI) is week-to-week with a right hamstring - no major damage, coach won't rule him out for next MONDAY vs the Eagles, but he likely won't practice this week. No shade yet; practice reports decide it before Wednesday's recalc. Marcus Mariota starts for Washington against Seattle (Daniels out indefinitely, seeing specialists) - the -3 WSH shade stands. Giants QB Jaxson Dart was ruled out mid-game tonight with a knee injury, severity unknown - if he misses Week 3, the NYG shade lands then. KC took the Sunday night game 33-30 in OT, so the Week 2 strip finished 2-3 with the Giants play live tonight.
Tuesday (Sep 22): Jaxson Dart's knee is worse than first feared - out an extended period, possibly the season, with Jameis Winston taking over. Giants shaded -3 for Weeks 3-10 as a first estimate; the window adjusts when surgery/IR news lands. Jayden Reed (GB) may not play again this season (neck) - Packers shaded -1.25 for Weeks 3-8, which touches Thursday's Atlanta game. Penix is named Thursday's starter; Darnold is slated to practice this week. Daniels has no fracture and is expected back this season - Washington's shade stands. Nacua's Week 3 is uncertain. San Francisco's receiver room is decimated (Pearsall, Stribling, Robinson out, Evans managed, Cooks signed to the practice squad) - the recalc weighs it Wednesday. The Rams closed out Week 2, 28-6; the strip finished 1-4. Own it, re-base Wednesday.
Wednesday recalc (Sep 23): Week 2 is in the books and greyed. The strip went 1-4 (only KC hit), model sides went 8-8, leverage badges went 5-11 with hits on MIN, NO, CLE, CIN and LV. Own it; this is the re-base. Fresh FPI: San Francisco stretches out at #1 (+7.3), the Rams jump to #3, Seattle to #7; Miami is last (-8.0). Jaxson Dart is done for the year (knee surgery), but fresh FPI already hammered the Giants to #31 - the manual shade comes off rather than double-count; same for New England (A.J. Brown is baked in; the market agrees). Daniels saw another specialist today with no timeline yet - Washington's -3 shade stands, Mariota starts Sunday. Caleb Williams isn't practicing and Ben Johnson doesn't know his Monday starter - no shade, no Chicago edge row, no strip play until that settles; the market (PHI -4.5) says he likely sits. Nico Collins is out again - no added shade; FPI already banked Houston's Collins-less dud and sits below the market. Nacua is still uncertain for Sunday night (McVay hopeful). Keenan Allen's suspension waits on the legal case - he plays. Murray (MIN) cleared and starts; Penix (ATL) is Thursday's starter - Atlanta upgraded +2, reversing the Rush cut. Darnold is practicing but not confirmed - no SEA shade yet. New Week 3 strip below.
Wednesday night (Sep 23): No line moves on the Week 3 slate since the afternoon recalc. TNF notes: Green Bay rules out four - G Aaron Banks is the big one, the offensive line is banged up - with DTs Hargrave and Campbell questionable; Atlanta has Tua available behind Penix, Ebukam out. Chicago's QB room thins further: backup Tyson Bagent is in concussion protocol, so Monday could be Case Keenum if Williams can't go - still no shade until someone is ruled out. Darnold practiced (limited) and is on a good track for Sunday. Daniels remains without a timeline after today's specialist visit.
Thursday pre-link (Sep 24): Atlanta's CB1 A.J. Terrell went on IR Tuesday (groin, 4+ games) - Falcons shaded -1.25 for Weeks 3-7, which trims the Penix upgrade to +0.75 net for that window. The TNF line slid a full point overnight to GB -4.5: the market is buying Penix and selling Green Bay's banged-up offensive line (Banks out, Hargrave and Campbell questionable). That pushes the GB card to +11.2. Chicago is trending toward Case Keenum on Monday (Williams and Bagent both out of practice) - the -3 shade lands on the official ruling, likely Friday or Saturday. Nacua still isn't practicing but McVay says it's not long-term; Friday's report decides his Sunday night. Etienne (hamstring) and DJ Moore (shoulder) are limited - below the model bar, watching.
Thursday afternoon (Sep 24): Market refresh - DraftKings moneylines are now live for all of Week 3, so every market number on the board is the no-vig ML (cells were spread-fit where MLs were missing). TNF is back to GB -5.5 after a brief -4.5 DraftKings print this morning; the GB card re-cuts to +5.6 on the -245/+200 no-vig. Other movers: KC -10.5 (from -11.5), SEA -7.5 (from -7), HOU -1.5 (from -2.5 with Collins out). The strip re-cuts on the no-vig switch: SF +10.6 and Dallas +7.0 in Rio headline, NO, DET and CAR fall below the bar, and the Rams stay off until Nacua's status lands.
Thursday evening: Dallas ruled out four defensive starters for Sunday in Rio (CB Durant, S Hooker, S Locke, LB Overshown). The DAL +7.0 card was model-vs-market and did not price that - pulled. GB card pulled at kickoff. TNF final: ATL 35, GB 14 - the model had GB at 73.65% and got embarrassed. That goes on the tally: Week 3 starts strip 0-1, model 0-1. One bright spot: the crowd badge sat on ATL and cashes (badges 1-0). One bad night does not re-base the model; Wednesday's recalc absorbs it. Darnold (glute) went full Thursday - good to go at WSH. Nacua (hip) and Collins (hamstring) DNP again; both trending out, watching Friday reports.
Friday evening: Official rulings: Daniels out Sunday (week-to-week, no IR - WSH shade stays as carried); Nacua doubtful and not expected to play Sunday night, but Rams expect him back Week 4 - single week, no shade, LAR stays off the strip; Collins ruled out again (FPI already banked it, no shade). Keenan Allen faces a minimum 3-game suspension, window not set - he is NOT on Sunday's out list, so he plays vs HOU; shade lands when the league dates it. Chicago: Williams and Bagent both out of practice all week, Keenum likely Monday - official designation posts Saturday, the -3 shade waits for it. Market is already leaning PHI (-238). Line watch: KC down to -10, money moved toward SEA (-395) and PHI (-238).
Saturday evening: Caleb Williams is RULED OUT for Monday night - the -3 shade lands on Chicago, the PHI/CHI edge row is back on the board, and CHI +3.5 joins the strip at +10.5 (model 46.8% vs market 36.3% even after the shade; Bagent practiced fully Saturday and likely starts - if Keenum is named instead the shade deepens). Nick Bosa (calf) is out multiple weeks - SF shaded -1.75 Weeks 3-5. The Niners still grade +11.6 on the strip after the shade; the market already took a full point off (SF -7.5). Goedert (PHI) out Monday - TE, below the bar. Carolina down to -1.5 on LB/S absences - below the bar, no shade. KC money back toward Miami (-575). Stars re-verified: no moves.
Sunday 7am: Overnight moves: SEA up to -8.5, LAR down to -1.5 (Nacua priced), KC -9.5. Nacua is a short-term groin issue, expected back Week 4. Bagent cleared concussion protocol, still questionable for Monday. Official inactives post 8:30am PT - nothing else new crossing the bar.
Sunday evening: Week 3 closes at strip 3-1 (GB lost Thursday; SF, Buffalo and Chicago cashed), model 8-8 (Mariota and Washington beat the -3 shade outright; Denver erased a 16-0 hole to beat the Rams 30-26 on SNF; CAR, HOU, CIN and NO also lost as favorites), badges 8-8 (Denver and Chicago the crowd-beaters), star KC cashed. Bears named Keenum, not Bagent, for Monday - the Chicago shade deepens to -4 (p 45.8), the card re-cuts to +10.3 at CHI +4.5. Baker Mayfield left with a right thumb injury - watching the report, TB hosts GB next week. Jack Bech (LV) to IR, below the bar.
Monday evening: Baker Mayfield is out at least three weeks (dislocated thumb; no fracture or ligament damage - best-case version of bad news). Rookie Jalon Daniels starts - Tampa shaded -3 Weeks 4-6, which flips their Week 4 home game vs Green Bay to a model toss-up. MNF final: CHI 27, PHI 7 - Keenum hung a blowout on Philadelphia and the +10.3 card cashed. Hurts was evaluated for a concussion and cleared. Watching: Josh Allen soreness (Buffalo, coach noncommittal); Jaycee Horn likely to IR (would be -1.25 on Carolina when official); Jayden Daniels practicing this week (WSH starter call for London pending); Justin Jefferson avoided serious injury and could play Week 4; Travis Etienne (NO) out with a hamstring, timeline TBD - watch the Week 4 line for the market measure.
Carried shading: WSH Weeks 3-6 (-3, Jayden Daniels elbow - window set when the specialists rule) · GB Weeks 3-8 (-1.25, Jayden Reed neck) · SF Weeks 3-5 (-1.75, Nick Bosa calf) · TB Weeks 4-6 (-3, Baker Mayfield thumb - rookie Jalon Daniels starts) · LAR Weeks 3-5 (-0.5 net: Garrett IR, Donald active; Nacua Week 3 uncertain) · ATL +2 (Penix) Week 3 on, minus 1.25 Weeks 3-7 (A.J. Terrell IR) = +0.75 net in that window; FPI re-checked weekly. Dropped this week: NYG (Dart is done for the season, but fresh FPI already prices Winston at #31) and NE (A.J. Brown is baked into FPI; the market confirms). Week 3 is anchored to live lines (Sep 23) and Yahoo crowd (pulled Sep 23). Weeks 4-18 stay projections until lines post.

How the model works

Ratings. ESPN Football Power Index (FPI) 2026 preseason ratings, which bake in Vegas win totals, schedule, and roster context. The Rams +5.9 sat on top preseason, Miami -6.1 at the bottom; the board re-derives off current ratings every Wednesday.

Win probability. FPI rating difference plus 1.4 points of home field (zero for the 9 neutral-site international games, marked (n)), run through a logistic curve tuned to FPI's own Week 1 game projections. It reproduces ESPN's Week 1 lines within about 1.5 points.

Value score. The number in each cell is the model's win probability for that team that week. Dark green is a heavy favorite, light green a lean, gray a toss-up, light red a likely loss, dark red a near-lock to lose. Pick'em gold is dark green where your league mates are scared, or red cells where the crowd still picks the name brand.

Leverage badges. A gold frame marks cells where the model's win probability divided by the crowd's pick rate (Yahoo Pro Football Pick'em straight-up distribution) clears 1.0 - the model likes that side more than the public does. Gold on green is the goldmine: a likely winner the crowd is ignoring (Kansas City is 58.9% to beat Denver but pulls only 46% of picks). Gold on red is a contrarian dart: still a likely loss, but priced way below reality. Tap a badged cell for the win %, pick %, and ratio. Current week only - badges follow as each week's pool data goes live.

The field-gap. The sticky column compares model-projected wins to the Vegas win total. Green gap means the model likes the team more than the market does. The 2025 lesson: Houston went 13-6 against the #2-hardest schedule as played, while New England's 17-4 came against the #30-easiest. Record against a hard slate is real. Record against a soft one is inflation. Vegas win totals stay frozen at the preseason number all season - the model side re-derives weekly off current FPI.
