Our Community Impact

The Titans believe robotics should be accessible to everyone. We have volunteered at Feed My Starving Children and demonstrated our robot and Innovation Project (ATLAS) at The College of Lake County’s robotics exposition. We also run school demonstrations, host LEGO workshops, and partner with local libraries and scout troops. Last season we reached over 300 kids through our outreach events.

2025-2026 Project: Protecting Artifacts in the Field

Archaeologists face a difficult problem protecting artifacts from damage. They need a fast, portable method to protect artifacts from weather, moisture, and oxidation in the field. We researched this from sources like the Charleston Museum, the AIA, and Britannica. We also cold emailed over 240 experts, 17 of whom we met with. Their advice and feedback has helped us design a solution as you can see here.

ATLAS speeds up preservation by 83%, taking minutes instead of hours. It is affordable, portable, reduces artifact loss, and increases excavation lengths — creating a clear real-world impact. The 17 archaeologists we met loved this solution and said they would use it immediately.

TitanBot — Boxed Design with Titans Slip-On System (TSS)

Our competition robot features a robust boxed chassis with four LEGO Spike Prime motors and block coding. Weighing just 2 pounds, it is stable, reliable, and easy to transport. We began by testing last year’s robot, identified weaknesses, and held a full-team rebuilding meeting. The final design was a solution we all agreed on — so strong that Ayaan could sit on it!

Innovation Highlights

TSS Pocket System: A rear pocket with counterweight that stabilizes attachments and prevents slipping. Every attachment uses the same slip-on connector so anyone can run any mission.

Run 3 Attachment: Completes Salvage Operation + Angler Artifacts in 30 seconds using a gear train for overhead reach.

Run 5 Attachment: Iterated after qualifiers to add a wheel for Silo and a long arm for Millstone — adding 60 points in seconds.

Code: Started with proportional gyro (Pyro) for reliability, then upgraded to full PID after sectionals. We created a consistency algorithm: each program is run 10 times; only scores ≥8 are added to tournament code.

The Titans host free monthly workshops covering LEGO building techniques, block coding with Spike Prime, sensor calibration, and robot strategy. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced builder, our sessions are designed to be fun and inclusive.
