Who We Are

The Titans (#58993) are a FIRST® LEGO® League team based at Aptakisic Junior High School. Founded in 2023, we compete using Spike Prime kits, block coding, and four motors. Our robot weighs just 2 pounds yet delivers precision and reliability through the Titans Slip-On System and full PID control.

Every season we push the limits of engineering, programming, and creativity while inspiring younger students through outreach and workshops.

Spreading STEM enthusiasm beyond our school walls.

The Titans believe robotics should be accessible to everyone. We have volunteered at Feed My Starving Children and demonstrated our robot and ATLAS at The College of Lake County’s robotics exposition. Last season we reached over 300 kids.

ATLAS — Archaeological Transport & Lightweight Artifact System

2025-2026 Project: Protecting Artifacts in the Field

Archaeologists need a fast, portable way to protect artifacts from weather, moisture, and oxidation. We cold-emailed 240 experts and met with 17. Their feedback drove every iteration.

Early hand-drawn electrolysis box - PDF pages 30-31

Early Concept (PDF p.30-31) — Salt-water electrolysis box with cathode/anode for rust removal on metal artifacts.

Why changed: Experts said it cracks ceramics, needs lab power, and isn’t portable for field hikes.

Final ATLAS (PDF p.2 & 18) — Folding aluminum box, vacuum pump (50 sec), nitrogen gas purge, DHT11 sensor, adjustable dividers, foam insulation.

Why this won: Backpack-portable, 2 lbs, $210 total, 83% faster, safe for all materials. USPTO patent filed.

Week 1 Brainstorm (PDF p.25) — First ideas included LiDAR drone, AR soil layers, and sensor brush.

Why changed: Expert interviews showed preservation on-site was the biggest pain point, leading directly to ATLAS.

Collapsible for hiking, 2 lbs, adjustable dividers, vacuum + nitrogen creates a stable bubble. 17 archaeologists said they would use it immediately.

We tested last year’s robot, identified instability, and held a full-team redesign meeting. The final boxed chassis with TSS pocket is so strong Ayaan could sit on it!

Hands-on learning for everyone.

The Titans host free monthly workshops covering LEGO building, block coding with Spike Prime, sensor calibration, and strategy. Sessions are fun and inclusive for all skill levels.
