Introduction:

You love dogs, I love dogs, we all love dogs (except a few rare cat lovers). Some of you may like the big, fluffy alaskan malamute, or the chubby little pug. There are a lot, and I mean, A LOT of dog breeds other than the husky and golden retriever. Some you may have never heard of before. So I'm doing you a favor, by listing some of the hundreds of breeds, including their stats. Your welcome>

Golden Retriever

Purpose: Hunting Dog
Height: 20-24 inches
Weight: 50-75 pounds
Lifespan: 10-12 years
Origin: Scotland Highlands
Energy Level: Medium-High
Shedding Level: Moderate, but has an undercoat, so two times a year, heavy shedding
Fact: Known to be one of the best family dogs to have since they are tolerant and gentle with people, kids, other dogs, and even cats.


Labrador Retriever

Purpose: Hunting Dog
Height: 22-24 inches
Weight: 60-75 pounds
Lifespan: 10-12 years
Origin: Newfoundland, Canada
Energy Level: Medium-High
Shedding Level: Moderate, but has an undercoat, so two times a year, heavy shedding
Fact: As of 2020, the labrador ranks the #1 dog in the US


Dalmation

Purpose: Most commonly known as a firefighter dog, hunting dog, and guard dog
Height: 22-24 inches
Weight: 33-70 pounds
Lifespan: 10-13 years
Origin: Unknown, but can be traced back to Croatia
Energy Level: Medium-High
Shedding Level: Moderate
Fact: Dalmation puppies are born completely white, and gain their distinct spots as they mature


Vizsla

Purpose: Hunting Dog
Height: 22-24 inches
Weight: 40-65 pounds
Lifespan: 12-15 years
Origin: Hungary
Energy Level: High
Shedding Level: Moderate
Fact: All Vizsla puppies are born with blue or greenish eyes, which gradually turn into a golden brown


Pomeranian

Purpose: Sled-pulling dog and herding dog
Height: 7-12 inches
Weight: 3-10 pounds
Lifespan: 12-16 years
Origin: Northern Europe
Energy Level: Low-Medium
Shedding Level: Moderate-Heavy
Fact: Pomeranians used to be larger, around 30 pounds, which was why they were used for herding


Pembroke Welsh Corgi

Purpose: Herding Dog
Height: 10-12 inches
Weight: 22-30 pounds
Lifespan: 12-15 years
Origin: Pembrokeshire,Wales
Energy Level: Low-Medium
Shedding Level: Moderate-Heavy, has an undercoat
Fact: Queen Elizabeth is believed to have owned at least 30 corgis throughout her reign


Siberian Husky

Purpose: Sled Dog
Height: 20-24 inches
Weight: 35-60 pounds
Lifespan: 12-15 years
Origin: Sibera
Energy Level: Medium-High
Shedding Level: Heavy, blows its coat 1-2 times a year
Fact: Huskies are known to bark, howl, yelp, yowl A LOT. They're super vocal


Portugese Water Dog
