Virginia. The city is famous for its monuments, white marble buildings, and important museums.

The National Mall is a huge open park in the center of the city. You can walk from the Capitol building all the way to the Lincoln Memorial, passing some of the most famous landmarks in America. Most of them are completely free to visit.

The Smithsonian Institution runs 19 free museums, including natural history, air and space, and fine arts. There is so much to see that one trip is never enough.

Day One

Arrival Day

We fly from Chicago on flight AA2398, departing at 3:52 PM.

After check-in, we go straight to Founding Farmers DC, a popular restaurant with fresh ingredients from American farms.

In the afternoon, we take our first walk along the National Mall. It's a great way to see the city and feel its energy for the first time.

Lincoln Memorial

Day Two

Monuments & Parks

We have a relaxed lunch in the park, then visit the Lincoln Memorial at 2:30 PM. The statue is almost 6 meters tall, and the view from the top steps is amazing.

Next, we walk to the Washington Monument, the tallest stone structure in the world at 169 meters. The elevator takes us to the top for a view of the whole city.

In the evening, we have dinner at Founding Farmers again.

Smithsonian Museum

Day Three

Museum Day

We have lunch at La Grande Boucherie DC, a beautiful French restaurant with great food and atmosphere.

Then we explore the Smithsonian museums, including dinosaur skeletons and the famous Hope Diamond at the Natural History Museum.

At 5:30 PM, we go to the Air and Space Museum, from the Wright Brothers to Apollo missions. It's one of the most visited museums in the world.

National Zoo panda

Day Four

Zoo & the Potomac

We have lunch at Old Ebbitt Grill, the oldest restaurant in Washington, open since 1856. It's famous for oysters and classic American dishes.

Then we go to the National Zoo, it's free and home to over 2,000 animals, including giant pandas and lions.

In the evening, we take a walk and have dinner along the Potomac River waterfront.

Day Five

Last Day & Departure

We have our final lunch at La Grande Boucherie, the perfect way to say goodbye to the city.

One last walk along the National Mall. This time we know every path and every monument.

We grab some souvenirs on the way to the airport. Departure at 3:30 PM, landing in Chicago at 5:27 PM.
