A soft tape measure and a mirror is all you need.
Around the fullest part, tape level across your back. Breathe normally - do not pull tight.
Around the narrowest point, usually just above the belly button.
Around the widest part, feet together.
Shoulder to where you want the hem. Our maxis are cut to [ankle length on a 5′6″ frame - Jack to confirm].
Inches. If you are between sizes, [size up for flowy cuts, down for knits - Jack to confirm].

The same size behaves differently in different fabrics.
Forgiving by design - the tie does the fitting. If between sizes, take the smaller.
Stretchy but not clingy. True to size for the drape you see in photos.
Elastic-back waist, so the waistband adjusts a full inch either way.
Cut relaxed through the body on purpose. Do not size up for modesty - the ease is already built in.
