O Allah, by Your knowledge of the unseen and Your power over creation, grant me life as long as You know life is good for me, and cause me to die when You know death is better for me. O Allah, I ask You for fear of You in private and public. I ask You for truthful speech in times of pleasure and anger, and for moderation in wealth and poverty. I ask You for never-ending blessings, the comfort of my eyes that never ceases, and contentment after decree. I ask You for a pleasant life after death, the joy of gazing upon Your Face, and longing to meet You, without distress or misguiding trial. O Allah, beautify us with the adornment of faith and make us guides who are rightly guided.
My Lord, expand for me my chest. And ease for me my task. And untie the knot from my tongue. So that they may understand my speech.
(Surah Taha 20:25–28)
O Ever-Living, O Sustainer, by Your mercy I seek help.
Correct all of my affairs and do not leave me to myself even for the blink of an eye.
My Lord, grant me wisdom and join me with the righteous.
(Surah Ash-Shu’ara 26:83)
O Allah, I seek refuge in You from anxiety and sorrow, from weakness and laziness, from cowardice and stinginess, from being overwhelmed by debt and the oppression of men.
(Sahih al-Bukhari 2893)
