My Favorite Zoo Animals
1. Lion
lion, (Panthera leo), large, powerfully built cat (family Felidae) that is second in size only to the tiger;
it is a famous apex predator (meaning without a natural predator or enemy).
The proverbial “king of beasts,” the lion has been one of the best-known wild animals since earliest times.
2. Vampire Squid
The vampire squid is a small cephalopod found throughout temperate and tropical oceans in extreme deep sea conditions.
The vampire squid uses its bioluminescent organs and its unique oxygen metabolism to thrive in the parts of the ocean with the lowest concentrations of oxygen.
3. Proboscis monkey
Proboscis monkey, (Nasalis larvatus), long-tailed arboreal primate found along rivers and in swampy mangrove forests of Borneo.
4. Kangaroo
kangaroo, any of six large species of Australian marsupials noted for hopping and bouncing on their hind legs.
The term kangaroo, most specifically used, refers to the eastern gray kangaroo,
the western gray kangaroo, and the red kangaroo.
5. Axolotl
axolotl, (Ambystoma mexicanum), salamander of the family Ambystomatidae (order Caudata),
notable for its permanent retention of larval features, such as external gills.
The species is found only in Lake Xochimilco, within Mexico City, where it is classified as a critically endangered species.
